Zhou Yong's definition of freedom.
Definition and personal details of Zhou Yong.
I would like to understand freedom in the context of interpreting the relationship between individuals and state. The individual has a measure of freedom to resist state interventions in freedom of expression, freedom of reli- gion or beliefs and freedom of association. These freedoms are very important for an indi- vidual to maintain his or her dignity and pursue their own meaningful, happy life. another important kind of freedom is equivalent to the political rights of citizens − an expression of the prin- ciple of people ́s sovereignty, such as the right to vote or to be elected. The state shall help its citizens to practice their freedom of participation in political and public affairs. I wish my country, the people’s republic of China, would respect, protect and promote these two kinds of freedom.
